Project Description
To create a 2 page illustrated magazine spread for a children's publication promoting reading for the month of December, including the possibility of future opportunities for the cover of the magazine and expanding to a possible spot illustration.
The Client
Cricket magazine a literary children's magazine that is distributed to schools and libraries to help excite children about reading. They have both paper and digital formats available that can also be purchased by parents to have in their own homes.
Message
The message of the article is to promote reading during the month of December, for the celebration of 'National Reading Month'. It is intended to encourage children and parents to participate in the fun of reading. Cricket They want the message to excite the children and inform them that reading can be an adventure that transport them to faraway places.
Audience
The audience will be children from the ages of 9-14, also their parents and the schools promoting the reading.
Purpose
The purpose is to get the children excited about reading for the whole month of December to promote healthy reading habits and to hopefully encourage lifetime readers. Its other purpose is to help promote the magazine as a valuable resource for schools and libraries.
Specifications
a two page spread illustration 17" x "11 containing a headline,subhead and body copy. 300 words. I will not have a bleed.
Illustration Idea/Concept/Thematic Statement
I plan on having a child reading a book. Coming out of the book are several things like dragons, spies, mermaids etc. that flows across the page making an adventure type feeling that is fun with lots of movement.
